affilink עב

Shabbat mode

affilink is built for Shabbat-observant businesses and affiliates too. It has three built-in tools: affiliates who don't earn from Shabbat sales, stores that close to buyers on Shabbat, and no affilink fee on Shabbat sales. You don't lose weekday sales, and you don't profit on Shabbat if that is what you chose.

What counts as "Shabbat"

A sale counts as a "Shabbat sale" if, when it was made, it was Shabbat or a Jewish holiday where the buyer is or where the seller is. Either one is enough.

For affiliates: don't earn from Shabbat sales

An affiliate can choose not to be credited with sales made on Shabbat or a holiday. Such a sale is recorded with the status "Not attributed (Shabbat/holiday)", but nobody earns a commission on it - not the affiliate, not the organization and not affilink - and the business pays nothing for it. The choice applies to sales from the moment you save it, and the business cannot override it.

How to turn it on

  1. Open the affiliate dashboard. Log in to affilink and open your affiliate dashboard.
  2. Find the "Sales on Shabbat and holidays" card. The dashboard has a card called "Sales on Shabbat and holidays".
  3. Tick the box. Tick "Don't attribute sales made on Shabbat or a Jewish holiday to me". It saves immediately and shows "Saved".

Examples

A ₪500 sale on an offer with a 10% affiliate commission, for an affiliate who chose not to earn from Shabbat sales. The business is in Haifa.

What happens to the sale, by when and where it was made
When and whereStatusAffiliate commission
Tuesday noon, buyer in Tel AvivApproved₪50
Shabbat noon, buyer in Tel AvivNot attributed (Shabbat/holiday)₪0
Saturday night, 15 minutes after havdalah in Haifa, buyer in HaifaApproved₪50
Oct 4, 2026 noon (Simchat Torah abroad), buyer in New YorkNot attributed (Shabbat/holiday)₪0
The very same moment, buyer in Tel Aviv (a weekday in Israel)Approved₪50

For stores: closed on Shabbat

A business whose store is closed on Shabbat can mark its offer as "closed on Shabbat and holidays". A buyer who follows an affiliate link during Shabbat, theirs or the store's, does not reach the store. They see a short page: "This store is closed for Shabbat and Jewish holidays", with the reopening time in their own local time. After Shabbat the same link works as usual. Link previews, such as on WhatsApp, still show the store.

How to turn it on

  1. Open the offer for editing. In your organization's management dashboard, in the offers area, open an existing offer or create a new one.
  2. Tick "Store closed on Shabbat and holidays". In the offer form, tick "The store is closed on Shabbat and holidays".
  3. Pick your city. Under "Account", in the "Shabbat and holidays" section, pick the city whose times apply to you. The default is Haifa. A vendor can have its own city.
  4. Save. Save the offer. From now on, affiliate links to this offer show a "closed for Shabbat" page during Shabbat and holidays.

Marking the offer closes our affiliates' links. Your store's own website, for people who reach it directly, is yours to close.

Frequently asked questions

What counts as "Shabbat" on affilink?

Shabbat or a Jewish holiday (Yom Tov) where the buyer is or where the seller is - either one is enough. Times follow the Hebcal calendar: from 10 minutes before candle lighting to 10 minutes after havdalah. Chol HaMoed, Chanukah and Purim do not count.

How do you know where the buyer is?

From the approximate, city-level location and time zone of the click on the affiliate link. It is an estimate: someone who clicked in Tel Aviv and bought abroad is judged by Tel Aviv.

What about a buyer or a store abroad?

Abroad, holidays count two days, as is customary outside Israel. For example, on October 4, 2026 (Simchat Torah abroad, a weekday in Israel), a sale to a buyer in New York counts as a holiday sale, and a sale to a buyer in Israel at the same moment does not.

If I choose not to earn from Shabbat sales, do I lose the sale?

The sale itself happens - the buyer bought. It simply is not credited to you: you earn no commission on it and the business pays nothing for it. Weekday sales are credited to you as usual.

Does it apply to sales that already happened?

No. The choice applies to sales from the moment you save it. Earlier sales were already calculated, and some may already be paid.

Can the business override my choice?

No. A sale marked "Not attributed (Shabbat/holiday)" cannot be changed from the business's dashboard. Only you decide this, in your own settings.

What if the calendar is unavailable?

For money, the sale is treated as a Shabbat sale, so nobody profits from a sale we could not check. For a closed store's links, the link works as usual, so a weekday outage cannot shut stores. An affiliate who believes a sale was classified by mistake can ask us for a manual review.

My store is closed on Shabbat. Is marking the offer enough?

Marking the offer closes our affiliates' links. Your store's own website, for people who reach it directly, is yours to close.

The binding wording is in the terms, section 6, and what is stored about a click is set out in the privacy policy.
